SALISBURY 10 AWAY DAY – HRRL #8

The gently undulating country roads around Salisbury and that exciting running track finish, drew a bumper crop of 38 Isle of Wight Road Runners to the Salisbury 10 instalment of the HRRL series. OK, so maybe it was the promise of good food, a drink and a few laughs as the IWRR set sail for an away day expertly curated by Mr Ian Dyer.

It was a fresh morning, a little moist, but good conditions for running which saw 10 of our superstars collect 10 mile PB’s. That’s an impressive number when you consider how many of us run the super flat Great South Run most years.

The girls were led home by Alicia Burr clocking a 1:23:14 PB, followed closely by Carolyn Littleton and Zoe Sherwin.

For the boys it was another PB that came home first, this time for Jon Bye in a nifty 1:08:48. Filling the first 3 spaces for the chaps were Guy Mattinson and Garry Sharp.

As the ladies continued to pour in, a couple of other performances get a special mention. Great to see club stalwart Julie Ray back in the action, as she completed her first HRRL race since before Covid, welcome back Mrs Ray.

And finally on the running front comes a congratulations to our Vet 70 superstar Lucy Deville. Lucy is just a month away from the London Marathon on a Good For Age place, and it looks like preparations are going well as her 1:46:41 finish earned her an age category victory.

The days running concluded, the away day moved on for some well earned refreshments.
