The Rog Run

14th April 2024 – The Alternative Rog Run

Sunday 14th April, sees the return of our Roger Walker-Reed Run.  This run is in memory of a much loved and respected IOWRR with a passion for trail and fell running, who sadly passed away.

This route through Ventnor, St Boniface and Bonchurch was one of his favourites and we celebrate his achievements in running and the contribution he made to the club by making this an annual occasion.

This year we see a slightly alternative route through Ventnor, over the cliff top path to Niton and returning along the St. Lawrence Undercliff – a distance of approximately 8.5 miles, of which we are sure Roger would have approved of.

A map of the alternative route is below

There are awards for the closest to their nominated time for both men and women and the first team of four with the closest combined time will receive beautiful, donated, vintage trophies of Rogers.  Anyone can win, it’s not about being the first across the finish… so come and give it a go.

The race is free to enter however we do ask that donations are made to Rogers two selected charities: SSAFA (lifelong support for our forces and their families) and Local Hospice Cancer Nurses Support.

Please be aware that this is not an official race & all runners run at their own risk, there will be a back marker however to ensure no one gets lost!

Meet 10am at Ventnor (The Millbay) for bag drop and number collection.  The Race starts at 11am from Ventnor sea front.

See you there!
