The first in the 3 Ryde Harrier cross country events, this event is intended as a club championship with only Harriers eligible for prizes. However guest runners are welcome to race and it serves as a good opportunity for extra mileage, to scout out the course for the IW championship….and of course jump in some mud and puddles which 8 of our runners decided to do. The course starts from Smallbrook stadium and looping around the Ashey and Nunwell area navigating over gates, stiles and fields.
In the mens category Sean Williams came in at 46.49, always a good performer in the winter cross country he took 3rd place overall and 1st in age. Kev Rann also made top 30 in 58.50. In the ladies category Haykey Baxter got a excellent 4th overall and 3rd in age in 56.10. Judy McCabe managed a 7th place finish and 5th in age in 1.02.59. Chani Jones stormed her way into the top 20 in 1.09.22 taking 16th followed by Alison Butcher in 1.13.06 and 23rd, Sally Trotman in 1.15.31 and 29th and finally the brilliant Lyn Snow in 1.38.01 taking 44th.
Brilliant job everyone, next up IW XC championships….
