ISLE OF WIGHT HALF MARATHON 2023

The half marathon course is quite a challenging one, as the 13.1 miles takes runners up and out of Ryde, taking in loops around Nettlestone and St Helens before returning. 600ft of climb in total.

That didn’t deter the 22 Isle of Wight Road Runners that were up to the task, and turned in some impressive performances.

None were as impressive as Josh Price, who continues to go from strength to strength and for the second time this summer led home fellow speedsters Ross and Louis. Those three made up the 2nd placed men’s team, well done chaps. This was Josh’s debut racing over the half marathon distance, and an impressive one clocking 1:22:16.

For the ladies, the top 3 also placed as the 2nd team, they were Beverley James, Rachael Millmore and Dawn Moses. That was a PB for Bev, in great form as she continues her marathon training. Dawn turned in a whopper of a PB, eclipsing her previous best by 18 minutes!

Bev was beaming afterwards “This race was so different to what I remember from 2 years ago. I am a lot fitter, have lost over 5 stone in weight and fuel better, I also hill train. It was so well organised, water stops were appreciated and I actually enjoyed the hills, also had time to chat to fellow runners and the marshals were fantastic. I really enjoyed it, I was not aiming for a time but knew I was quicker on the day. I was shocked that I was part of the ladies team getting 2nd place but very proud.”
