IWRR Club 10k took place yesterday from Medina Leisure Centre. It was a typically hot sunny evening which saw men tackle one direction and women the other. The route’s an undulating mostly footpathed course:
We had a staggering 62 IWRR’s compete with the club opening up entry to Ryde Harriers and guests.
Medals were awarded to all who completed the distance:
IWRR’s were also eligible for trophies being awarded to 1st-3rd Women and Men. The final results were:
1st | Pete Wilmott | 00:37:51 |
2nd | Pete Sexton | 00:38:34 |
3rd | Andy Macarthur | 00:39:14 |
1st | Polly Segar | 00:42:54 |
2nd | Rosie Sexton | 00:43:40 |
3rd | Jodie Giffard – Birthday Girl! | 00:45:11 |
For a second year the club also decided to donate £1 from each IWRR entrant fee and round this up to £100 for the winner of the nominated time to donate to a charity of their choice. The winner of the nominations was Claire Campbell who was only 1 second away from her estimated time made even harder to estimate as it was only revealed after submission of time which direction each sex had to tackle. Claire’s charity of choice was KissyPuppy. The next best were a close 9 seconds out – Polly and Claire Howard and third place were 11 seconds out achieved by Kev Fry and Jodie.
Finally a massive thank you to all the marshals, time keepers, water station helpers, back markers and organisers. A big IWRR thank you to Clarkes Mechanical for donating the much needed water, our local running shop – Love Running for donating prizes and good bags and Skintrade for the tasty vegan cake. All contributing to a successful enjoyable evening rounded off with chip butties at Newport Football Club, raffle, drinks and birthday cake.
