A few of us from the Island travelled to Mallorca for the fifth Ironman 70.3, the largest 70.3 in the world.
The task ahead of the athletes was a 1.9km sea swim in the bay of Alcudia, 56 mile single bike loop ascending the highest mountain in Mallorca and finally rounding off the race with a half marathon of three laps through Alcudia streets and port. The athletes were started in 15 waves commencing with the pro’s. by the time athletes were tackling the half marathon temperatures had reached 36*c in the shade.
Darren achieved a PB of just over 30 minutes, well done!
