TAPNELL 10K AND FRESHWATER 5K

Saturday of the Isle of Wight Running Festival brought with it two swift races over the shorter distances, and there were some impressive performances by the IWRR. Midday for the 5k and 3pm for the 10k.

Carolyn reported “It was a lovely route round the back of the Farringford estate and into the lower part of Tennyson passing in front of Dimbola Lodge and returning through the marshes which were nice and dry. Very warm and humid conditions”.

It was another sparkling performances from speedster Ross Wilkes, in fact 2! He smashed the field in the 5k, winning in a sub 18 time, and then a couple of hours later after his warm up, he was out again to win the 10k, simple amazing!

Amazing is a word you could also apply to young Louis Forster. Louis continued his great form with a top 10 finish in the 5k and a 3rd place in the 10k, 1st Junior in both distances. Louis commented “The courses were great fun to run on, I was really happy to come away with winning junior and a top 3 finish. I found the heat on the day pretty manageable. My legs felt fine till the next day when I got to the Needles”.

John and Carolyn also starred in the 5k and the 10k.

It was a great weekend of running for Carolyn, performing in both distances on Staurday and the half on Sunday. In the 5k and 10k she placed 2nd and 4th, 1st in the V55 category in both races – awesome running!

Lucy also won her age category – well done to all our runners on a hot day.
