Darren Cole travelled to Mallorca for the third time to compete in the Ironman 70.3.

This year the weather was the worst it had ever been for an Ironman in Mallorca; rain, wind and cold. This would naturally aid Darren in the run as temperatures usually reach a scorching 30 plus degrees by the time athletes are running, but for the bike section in the mountains this proved tough as sight was poor due to low level clouds and braking was very dangerous with lots unable to finish.

Despite the inclement weather and jellyfish  Darren managed PB’s for each discipline:

Swim: 35:31 Bike: 03:08:57 Run: 01:37:33

Total time: 05:28:45

Placing 630th overall out of some 2800 that enter each year making it the largest 70.3 in the world attracting 52 nationalities.

With the distances being 1.9km swim, 90.1km bike and finishing with a half marathon.
