The 35th edition of the London Marathon was held yesterday. We had IOWRR’s get good for age entry, ballot places, charity sponsored and two members won the club places at our Xmas party.
We had 7 complete the marathon, a few were attempting this distance for the first time and others were chasing PB’s. A brilliant performance by you all!
There was snow forecast but luckily for the runners this didn’t come to fruition and rain cleared to allow the sun to shine through although the northerly breeze kept temperatures cool for the runners. Due to the large volume of runners, some 36,000, there are three starting points eventually congregating after a mile to complete the rest of the journey together. The route traverses across lots of boroughs and takes in some icon London landmarks and bridges. This is a well-supported race with thousands flocking to the streets to cheer on elites and runners alike.
