{"id":7039,"date":"2022-02-25T19:04:29","date_gmt":"2022-02-25T19:04:29","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/isleofwightroadrunners.net\/?p=7039"},"modified":"2022-02-25T19:04:29","modified_gmt":"2022-02-25T19:04:29","slug":"winchester-10k-3","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/isleofwightroadrunners.net\/?p=7039","title":{"rendered":"Winchester 10k"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The Winchester 10km Road Race originally started back in 1983 as a 10-mile distance and went on to adopt the popular 10km format in the late 1980&#8217;s.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This undulating race features a one lap closed road route consisting of a mix of urban and countryside parkland and starts outside the historic Winchester Guildhall leaving the Broadway via the exit next to King Alfred&#8217;s statue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Runners are initially sent up St George&#8217;s Street before going out towards the village of Kingsworthy and returning through the village of Headbourne Worthy and back towards Winchester before finishing at The North Walls Recreation Centre.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"950\" height=\"1927\" src=\"http:\/\/isleofwightroadrunners.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/D22522E0-9A15-49E4-99B8-A3B4249EBBED.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-7041\" srcset=\"https:\/\/isleofwightroadrunners.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/D22522E0-9A15-49E4-99B8-A3B4249EBBED.jpeg 950w, https:\/\/isleofwightroadrunners.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/D22522E0-9A15-49E4-99B8-A3B4249EBBED-768x1558.jpeg 768w, https:\/\/isleofwightroadrunners.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/D22522E0-9A15-49E4-99B8-A3B4249EBBED-757x1536.jpeg 757w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 950px) 100vw, 950px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>After storm Eunice had hit on Friday, shortly followed by Franklin hot on her heels on Saturday, the weather didn\u2019t look like it was going to be much kinder by Sunday but this didn\u2019t put off three of our superstars from lining up on the start line with approximately 1000 other like minded athletes, all craving that race day high and new bit of bling to take home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1200\" height=\"650\" src=\"http:\/\/isleofwightroadrunners.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/54392B6C-315F-4D87-8BED-CFDB907C8AEB.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-7043\" srcset=\"https:\/\/isleofwightroadrunners.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/54392B6C-315F-4D87-8BED-CFDB907C8AEB.jpeg 1200w, https:\/\/isleofwightroadrunners.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/54392B6C-315F-4D87-8BED-CFDB907C8AEB-768x416.jpeg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Kev Driscoll was our first man home running a cracking race and finishing with a chip time of 54:13.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And completing our trio were Kev Winchcombe and Gill Bushell who ran the race together and finished in an awesome time and under the hour in 58:16.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1125\" height=\"1500\" src=\"http:\/\/isleofwightroadrunners.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/1A50AFE8-59C2-4D9E-909A-0AF67D4A8DFE.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-7044\" srcset=\"https:\/\/isleofwightroadrunners.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/1A50AFE8-59C2-4D9E-909A-0AF67D4A8DFE.jpeg 1125w, https:\/\/isleofwightroadrunners.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/1A50AFE8-59C2-4D9E-909A-0AF67D4A8DFE-768x1024.jpeg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1125px) 100vw, 1125px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Gill\u2019s race day was made all the more complete when she crossed the line at what can only be described as \u2018goodie bag central!\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She commented that the route was \u201ca bit bumpy but lovely\u201d but was most excited with her stash of goodies, consisting of \u201ca medal, t shirt, banana, Haribos, water and a remedy drink\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With a haul like that I think we\u2019ll all be signing up next year!&nbsp;&#x1f929;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Great running team. Very well done to all of you.
