{"id":4822,"date":"2018-11-12T15:39:52","date_gmt":"2018-11-12T15:39:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/isleofwightroadrunners.net\/?p=4822"},"modified":"2018-11-12T16:04:59","modified_gmt":"2018-11-12T16:04:59","slug":"remembrance-10k","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/isleofwightroadrunners.net\/?p=4822","title":{"rendered":"Remembrance 10k"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Run on closed roads, this memorial run visits the country lanes on the outskirts of Portsmouth before taking the runners along the top of a section of Portsdown Hill providing some stunning vista across the city, the Solent and beyond.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Starting at Fort Nelson, near Fareham, club stalwart Lyn Snow lined up to take on the 10k course despite the stormy conditions.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/isleofwightroadrunners.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/3C321303-D87D-4B39-BB66-1E481975B856.jpeg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-4823\" src=\"http:\/\/isleofwightroadrunners.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/3C321303-D87D-4B39-BB66-1E481975B856.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"734\" height=\"346\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>From the start at the Nelson Monument, Lyn made her way along Portsdown Hill Road before turning toward Southwick before traversing Boarhunt Common. An out and back section followed as she crossed the River Wallington twice before passing between Grub and Mill Coppices before embarking upon the biggest climb of the run taking her back to the Lord Nelson Monument and the welcome sight of the finish line.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/isleofwightroadrunners.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/DA096A04-E1B2-42F7-8A77-A14577E8A2F4.jpeg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-4824\" src=\"http:\/\/isleofwightroadrunners.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/DA096A04-E1B2-42F7-8A77-A14577E8A2F4.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"2048\" height=\"2048\" srcset=\"http:\/\/isleofwightroadrunners.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/DA096A04-E1B2-42F7-8A77-A14577E8A2F4.jpeg 2048w, http:\/\/isleofwightroadrunners.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/DA096A04-E1B2-42F7-8A77-A14577E8A2F4-768x768.jpeg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 2048px) 100vw, 2048px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was quite tough\u201d said Lyn \u201cThere were a few hills to contend with.
