The Royal Victoria Country Park was the venue for Southampton Athletic Clubs 10k race.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/isleofwightroadrunners.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/F07F5DAB-462E-4036-A049-5D013B85CFBB.jpeg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-3948\" src=\"http:\/\/isleofwightroadrunners.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/F07F5DAB-462E-4036-A049-5D013B85CFBB.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"768\" height=\"1024\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Adjoining Netley Police College and close to the Hamble River, this race was sold out early, as runners scramble to improve their positions in the league in the last few races.<\/p>\n<p>The runners blasted their way around the winding 3 laps of the Country Park to then muster all they have left for a last 600m dash to the finish line adjacent to the historic chapel.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/isleofwightroadrunners.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/C8EADB4C-2B86-4109-9B57-4A419FE78060.jpeg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-3949\" src=\"http:\/\/isleofwightroadrunners.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/C8EADB4C-2B86-4109-9B57-4A419FE78060.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"644\" height=\"661\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Cole Pearce was the first Road runner back in a magnificent 36 minutes and 10th overall. Ross Wilkes wasn\u2019t too far behind him in 20th place with Simon Pilcher hot on his heels in 21st. Both lads getting themselves PBs to boot.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/isleofwightroadrunners.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/AA99FA56-5D5C-4C4D-9BA6-8FC2D4450E0D.jpeg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-3947\" src=\"http:\/\/isleofwightroadrunners.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/AA99FA56-5D5C-4C4D-9BA6-8FC2D4450E0D.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"2048\" height=\"2048\" srcset=\"http:\/\/isleofwightroadrunners.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/AA99FA56-5D5C-4C4D-9BA6-8FC2D4450E0D.jpeg 2048w, http:\/\/isleofwightroadrunners.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/AA99FA56-5D5C-4C4D-9BA6-8FC2D4450E0D-768x768.jpeg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 2048px) 100vw, 2048px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m so damn pleased\u201d said Ross \u201cI\u2019ve finally broken the 6 minute mile barrier\u201d<\/p>\n<p>They also managed to take 3rd place men\u2019s team between them, giving themselves a real chance of league promotion with only 2 races left to run.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Stu Backhouse was next home in under 38 minutes grabbing 3rd V45, with Matt Fletcher still managing to defy his double hernia to arrive over the line in just under 40 minutes and Nick Kenney a minute later. Next was a tussle between the self proclaimed Punk rock King of awesomeness Dean Pike and George Butler, who took a staggering 4 minutes off his PB as he just pipped Dean on the line.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/isleofwightroadrunners.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/B808969B-D0EE-4787-A0AC-DA42891AAFD0.jpeg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-3950\" src=\"http:\/\/isleofwightroadrunners.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/B808969B-D0EE-4787-A0AC-DA42891AAFD0.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"2048\" height=\"2048\" srcset=\"http:\/\/isleofwightroadrunners.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/B808969B-D0EE-4787-A0AC-DA42891AAFD0.jpeg 2048w, http:\/\/isleofwightroadrunners.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/B808969B-D0EE-4787-A0AC-DA42891AAFD0-768x768.jpeg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 2048px) 100vw, 2048px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Trish lead the girls home to a a victory in the V50 category, with Jodie only a couple of minutes behind. Great running from these two ladies as they are finding their form once more after injury. In his first trip away with the club, he was pleased as punch.
